Free Antivirus Software From Microsoft
Microsoft today officially opened the device of their free anti-malware called Microsoft Security Essentials. This software is designed to protect consumers from viruses, spyware and other malicious software.
“Consumers stated to us that they need protection software in real-time but we know that many of them did not want or can not afford to pay for it. Finally, they did not use protection at all,” said Amy Barzdukas, General Manager for Microsoft Consumer Security ,.
“With the Microsoft Security Essentials, users can enjoy high-class protection that easily obtained and used, without the need to think about the payment problem,” said Barzdukas.
Microsoft says that the Security Essentials is designed to run in the background and notifies users if any action should be taken. In addition, the processor and memory usage restricted to minimize the impact on computer performance. Thus the old PC or a PC with limited specifications can take advantage of the application.
The system requirements for Microsoft Security Essentials is as follows:
- Official Operating System Windows XP SP2 or SP3, Vista SP1 or SP2, Windows 7
- 500MHz processor and 1GB of RAM up to XP or
- 1GHz processor and 1GB of RAM up to Vista or 7
- Supports VGA 800×600 resolution onto the
- 140mb of hard disk space
- Internet connection to install and update virus definitions or the latest spyware
- Browser IE 6 or Firefox 2 to the top
This new software has two advantages compared with the solutions offered by other manufacturers. First, this software made by Microsoft, a company that is familiar to computer users around the world. Second, the software for free, which makes consumers no longer need to use a similar solution made by other manufacturers.
